Martial Arts Writing

For those of you who don’t know me as a martial artist, I used to work as a full-time staffer on the four top martial arts magazines in the United Kingdom. During that time I wrote nearly 400 articles, not all of which were published, which isn’t bad considering I only worked there for two years.

As a result of the fact that I was writing so much, and the vanity submissions were either falling – or were just plain crap – it got to the point where in some magazines, I made up to 80% of the content. It got to the point where they actually had to start removing my name from articles as people were commenting to the editor that it should be called ‘Matt Sylvester monthly’. That’s something I’m proud of.

However, these articles are now languishing in the hallowed halls of the recycle bin. I’ve decided that it’s time to resurrect them, to un-pulp (spell check says that this isn’t a word, it is now!) them and get them onto the ether. So, hopefully you’ll enjoy them. If you don’t, you’ve still saved yourself a subscription.
