Should I be chuffed? Or pissed off?

I decided that I would put copies of Practical Taekwondo: Back to the Roots up for the special price of £15.00 as a Christmas offer. I’m currently selling them on Amazon for £23.99, so thought that was a bloody good price.

I then decided to check out whether anyone else was still selling new copies. It shouldn’t really be possible as Summersdale – the distributor – had stopped selling my hard copies over a year ago. The only person with brand spanking new copies should be me.

However, imagine my surprise when I saw that two companies were selling brand new copes for £103! I’ll put that in words ONE HUNDRED AND THREE POUNDS! Plus £2.80 P&P. Seriously? If these are genuine copies, I probably got under £10 for them. And by under £10 I’m could well be overestimating at that.

The question is, do I up the price of my copies? It was a limited run of 1000, so they could be considered to be collector’s items, and I’m the only seller where you can get signed copies. Still, ONE HUNDRED AND THREE POUNDS!

My offer still stands. £15.00 if you’re one of the first 10 people to contact me. It’s worth it just for the resale value.

Galling to be certain, but bear in mind that while they’re listing your book at £103, that doesn’t mean they’re selling it at £103. They could list it at a cool £1,000,000, but that doesn’t mean a thing if they don’t get somebody to pay that for it.
    Market forces push both ways.
Look up “Raus! Untoten!” on eBay to see something similar.
