Writing Challenge – What if Jesus lived?

This is a very simple wiring challenge. How would the world be different if Jesus had not died on the cross but lived.

Would he have spread the word further? Would he and his disciples been forced to leave Palestine and gone on a pilgrimage? What lands might they have ended up in? How would this change Christianity? What if he had children? Would there be an internecine struggle after his death?

Without the sacrifice of His life, the shedding of His blood and His resurrection, Jesus would have had no reason to come to Earth as a man.

Well that’s what the writing challenge is about, thinking about how things might have been different, how he might have achieved the same goal without dying, the political change this might have caused, would it have weakened the Roman hold on Palestine etc?

My point is, it’s like asking, “what if there was no God?” The prophecies, in the Old Testament, speak to where Christ would be born, from what tribe He would be born, how He would die and why He needed to die. If He lives, we have no hope.

So write a short story about there being no hope. It’s a writing challenge, a way to get people thinking about short stories. It’s not a theological what if, it’s a ‘get writing’ what if. Just like all the others I’ve posted up.
